My sweet baby girl is one month old and my heart and head have not caught up with one another! The good Lord has a sense of humor because he made the last month of pregnancy drag and the first month of parenthood fly. Let me begin by saying pregnancy was easier than expected, labor was easier than expected, BUT postpartum and parenthood are WAY harder than expected. I’ve definitely had a lot of curveballs thrown my way, but I love getting to witness the beauty behind the bruises (if you know what I mean). I told Wesley the other night that I felt I was in grad school again…studying so hard for one exam is comparable to the process of feeding-changing-burping-getting her to sleep & by the time you pass the test you must get ready for the next one.
I definitely got a bit emotional the past few days going through my photos (that I haven’t uploaded yet because I have ZERO time) and realizing how much she’s already grown. I feel time slipping through my fingers and I want it to just slow down; however, I feel that with each passing moment I become more-and-more in love with this little person who can now lift her head a bit more, follow my voice with her head and eyes, coo, and snuggle.
Without getting too much into detail I will share the worst and best parts about the first month:
- postpartum healing
- no sleep
- clusterfeeding (for those who breastfeed)
- dealing with fussiness
- learning how to co-parent
- having the opinions of others thrown at you
- the annoying strangers in the stores
- deep stares
- seeing Mommy’s & Daddy’s unique traits in her
- witnessing Daddy-daughter moments
- feeling the new-found pride my husband has in me
I snagged a moment to snap some shots of her to document her first big milestone. Outfit details will be listed below.
Please comment and let me know how you survived your baby’s first month, provide any tips/advice, etc. Also, don’t forget to follow me on IG to keep up with even more fun photos!
