I began this blogging journey in July 2015 after a a minor foot surgery that kept me off my feet and out of work for a week. I have always been the creative, the one dreaming dreams, and the one who constantly expands interests and possibilities (which honestly drives Hubs and the rest of my loved-ones crazy). I’ve come to embrace this quality about myself, which leads me to sharing my new venture…selling re-designed furniture. I mean, it only makes sense coming from a long line of furniture retailers and artists!
I found this little beauty on my way home from a ‘not so amazing’ day of work. Just as much as it caught me by surprise to find this treasure where I did, it caught me by surprise when the milk paint I ordered turned out to be navy blue instead of black. The beauty was that when I decided to let this surprise guide my way, I was in-return pleasantly drawn to the outcome.
Features: Here’s a lovely before pic of this banged-up beauty. I absolutely loved the color combo and had planned to stick with the black and brown theme; however, after discovering my paint was blue I redirected my efforts.
It took me a couple washes to clean that dirty thing and minimal-no sanding. I then applied 1 coat of Miss Mustardseed’s Milk Paint in ‘artissimo’, Cece Caldwell’s aging cream, cleaned the tarnished hardware with my mixture of lime juice and salt (which got me particularly in the mood for margaritas), changed my mind and sprayed the hardware white, and finished everything off with a custom lined-drawer using paper from Spoonflower.
My mind immediately thought the piece is a perfect changing table for a little boy’s nursery! It’s technically a small vanity and/or desk. I believe I love the versatility of it the most! I also like the handsome-nature and gender-neutral aspect.
Here are some more before shots along with the re-designed look:
