Hi friends! Today starts my series called ‘Mindful Moments’. These posts are going to be tailored towards keeping our mind at peace. In these posts I’ll be sharing any common struggles and my opinion on how to overcome. These won’t be for everyone, but I encourage you to share in my insight and let me know your thoughts.
Today I want to discuss
body type. Anyone who knows me on a personal-level knows that the good Lord blessed me with height, a small upper frame, and a big lower frame. Some like to refer to food when describing ‘body type’…I never understood that!? FYI: I’m a ‘pear’ ha!
I was in my closet the other day-just staring. My husband and I were getting ready to go out and his patience was disappearing by the minute. I kept thinking to myself ‘Why is it so hard to pick an outfit?’ I have nice clothes, I do my best to purchase things to flatter my shape, but I still go through my phases of frustration.
“Why can’t I have a normal body type?” “An average body type?” “A body like everyone else?”
Whoa what!? Those descriptors are not the impression I want to leave in this world. I don’t want my eulogy to be “Sam was a normal girl. She lived an average life. She was just like everyone else.”
I am what I am. Just like you are what you are. Unless you’re willing to go drop big bucks completely redesigning yourself, there comes a point (or age) when you just accept. Don’t confuse ‘accept’ with ‘settle’ though. If you aren’t feeling great about yourself, consider healthy ways of improving (e.g., exercise, eat better, learn and purchase flattering clothes, highlight your best features, etc.). Most importantly, get your mind right. Once you ‘accept’ and stop comparing, you’ll be able to see past the frustration.
